Summer brings the dawn of our New Vegan Age

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) June 20, 2011

Some are doing it out of compassion for animals. Others are doing it to improve their health. Still others consider it a simple, practical, and powerful way to minimize their impact on the environment and climate.

For these and other reasons, more and more people are becoming vegan: They’re declining to consume food or use products derived from animals. And today, on the first day of summer, a new blog officially launches to celebrate and promote the dawn of our New Vegan Age.

“There’s a great need for information, for support, and for answers about being a vegan,” says moderator Tom Epler, 37. “High-quality options for everything that people make, use, buy, and covet already exist, but it can be hard to find them.”

Last month, an informal New Vegan Age poll asked what percentage of the U.S. population will be vegan in 2050. One respondent claimed widespread awareness and change can’t come on a large scale in just 40 short years.

“Really? How many child safety seats or airbags did we see in cars in 1971?? asks Epler. “Awareness certainly can combine with technology to create massive change in a few decades. Everyone won’t be vegan in 40 years but, as Farm Sanctuary co-founder Gene Baur says, going vegan is good for us, good for animals, and good for the planet. Today’s vegans are excited to help spread that simple message.”

In the months leading up to today’s official launch, Epler has interviewed Fit For Life author Harvey Diamond, moderated and reported on the results of two informal polls, enlisted others’ help to build on the popular Meatless Monday movement with vegan names for the other six days of the week, and posted several recipes, including a well-received vegan option for for a Philly Tofurky

(PRWEB) June 7, 2006

Over the next few months there will be Vegan Festivals in Bristol, Gloucester, and London but the Vegan event liable to make the biggest impact on the thriving increased rate of world veganism is The 10th International Vegan Festival in Denmark.

Organised by the lady who organised the very first International Vegan Festival, Kirsten Jungsberg, the 10th International Vegan Festival promises an interesting itinerary in an idyllic setting in one of the most beautiful parts of Denmark on the Northern most seaside resort of Skagen. The program of events includes inspirational speakers, delicious vegan food, motivational workshops and internationally acclaimed entertainment.

Speakers include Alex Bourke author of various vegetarian and vegan travel & restaurant guides and Campaign Against Cruelty – an activist’s handbook, Tony Bishop-Weston author of Vegan, Eric Karlsson Swedish Nature Cure Practitioner, Stephen Walsh author of Plant Based Nutrition and Health , and Brian Jacobs from London Vegans. It?s rumored that members of the prophylactic Secret Society of Vegans may also attend.

Entertainment by Vegan pianist Linda Gentille ?The Piano Princess? en route from Las Vegas following her sell out tour of China.

The 2006 season of Vegan Festivals literally kicks off at Bristol on the day of England?s opening World Cup Football match against Paraguay with food, talks, demonstrations and lots of fun.

This is followed by Gloucester, London, Coventry and finally back to London for the Christmas Without Cruelty Fayre.

People from all walks of life are being urged to come and taste new foods and discover a more logical and healthy vegan lifestyle that benefits not only people but animals and the environment too.

As consumers become more conscious about the power in their shopping purse to make a positive difference in the world more people are voting with their shopping list. The vegan market is now estimated to be running into $ Billions attracting new ethical investment opportunities as new nutritious and delicious, innovative products appear on the supermarket shelves seemingly every week now.

Meanwhile the number of Vegan websites dedicated to vegan diets and vegan lifestyles seems to be growing exponentially (even if you discount the hundreds of PeTA Animal Rights websites!)

Some of the latest websites include http://www.davegancode.org.uk , http://www.bbq.for-vegans.co.uk http://www.famousvegans.co.uk , http://www.vegetarian-dha-epa.co.uk , http://www.vegannutrition.makesense.co.uk and hundreds of Vegan Blogs on every vegan subject you can think of.
